S.U.G Inaugural Program: Unijos Students Should Be Priority, - V.C.

Sambo Peter officially assumed office as the new president of the University of Jos Students' Union Government (SUG), following his victory in the recently concluded elections. The inauguration ceremony, held at the Social Science Faculty Hall, Naraguta Campus, saw Peter and other elected executives sworn into office amidst distinguished guests including the Vice-Chancellor, the Dean of Students Affairs, ASUU chairman for UNIJOS chapter, representatives from the National Association of Nigeria Students (NANS) UNIJOS Zone C chapter, lecturers, members of the parliament, and other dignitaries. Professor Ishaya Tanko, the Vice-Chancellor, addressed the newly inaugurated executives, urging them to prioritize students' interests above personal agendas. Unijos V-C Honoured During Visit To Mass Communication Department, Commisssions New Studio and Library.

The Vice-Chancellor of the University of Jos, Professor Ishaya Tanko, visited the Department of Mass Communication to commission its newly constructed studio and library. The event, held at the Faculty of Social Sciences, saw the presence of   dignitaries from government parastatals, lecturers, senior lecturers, Heads of Departments, and the Dean of the Faculty of Arts, among others. Senior lecturers of the Department of  Mass Communication Professor Ishaya Tanko, who received several awards, expressed gratitude to the department for the respect accorded to him. He also acknowledged the presence of the Minister for Sports and praised the current administration for its unwavering support to the university. Dental students join protest to highlight accreditation issues

 Dental students in the university of Jos have also joined in on the protest at the university  gates. While the original protest was aimed at raising awareness about inadequate medical facilities and social amenities in the institution, the dental students also saw this as an oppurtunity to voice their concerns about the non-accreditation of their department. Chanting slogans and holding up signs, the students expressed their frustration and called for urgent action from the university administration to address these issues.

Students of university of Jos shut down campus entrances in protest of student deaths, lack of facilities

students of the University of Jos have locked down all entrances to the school, preventing access to and from the premises.  The protest, which began early Monday morning, was sparked by the death of two students who reportedly died due to lack of adequate facilities in the school clinic, as well as other challenges such as poor hostel conditions, filled soakaways, and lack of water and electrical stability. Speaking with one of the of protesters who plead anonymity, he said “ why will students pay for all these facilities and yet they are not provided"  One of the student who addressed protesters said the gate will remain locked until their needs are taken into consideration.

2 DEAD OTHERS INJURED OVER PALLIATIVE

  Two students of the Nasarawa State University Keffi lost their lives, while others were injured in a stampede at the school's convocation square. The tragic incident occurred today, as students attempted to illegally obtain food items at the distribution site.  According to a 400-level student who requested anonymity, the incident was caused by a rush to get access to the bags of rice, which had not yet been distributed. “They haven't started sharing the palliative, the governor was yet to come,  Students on their own went to force down the gate while some jumped over the fence to collect the rice themselves due to this there was commotion and some students were pushed down resulting to injury and sadly death" He added that this palliative distribution was successful in other Tertiary institutions the governor had visited but theirs at NSUK turned out differently. GOVERNOR SULE VISITS TERTIARY INSTITUTIONS, DISTRIBUTES FOOD AND FINANCIAL AID

Fulafia V.C,  welcomes Governor of Nasarawa state. Students at tertiary institutions in Nasarawa state received a welcome boost today, as Governor A.A Sule paid a visit to several institutions in the state, including the Federal University of Lafia, and distributed bags of rice as well as a cash gift.  Govornor A.A sule at the federal university lafia. Samson Ibrahim, a 300-level student of the Federal University of Lafia, expressed his gratitude to the governor for the timely assistance, which he said would be a big help to students.   According to him the governor has done what most Governors would not  do and he is proud of him.
