Unijos V-C Honoured During Visit To Mass Communication Department, Commisssions New Studio and Library.


The Vice-Chancellor of the University of Jos, Professor Ishaya Tanko, visited the Department of Mass Communication to commission its newly constructed studio and library.


The event, held at the Faculty of Social Sciences, saw the presence of  dignitaries from government parastatals, lecturers, senior lecturers, Heads of Departments, and the Dean of the Faculty of Arts, among others.

Professor Ishaya Tanko, who received several awards, expressed gratitude to the department for the respect accorded to him. He also acknowledged the presence of the Minister for Sports and praised the current administration for its unwavering support to the university.

The Commissioner for Youth and Sports, representing Governor Caleb Mutfwang Plateau State, pledged a donation of 500,000 Naira to the department.

In his speech, Professor Godfrey Danaan, H.O.D of the Mass Communication Department, emphasized the importance of elevating the department to a faculty status and providing more space for learning, given its large student population. He also urged the Vice-Chancellor to grant Mass Communication full control to broadcast NUGA events globally.

The department's president, Gyang Bonaventure, highlighted the need for the Vice-Chancellor's support, particularly in addressing the department's space constraints.

In response, Professor Tanko assured full support to address the department's needs and promised the Mass Communication department's involvement in all activities of the UNIJOS campus radio, "Ice F. M."

The event concluded with the commissioning of the Mass Communication library and studio, signaling a boost for development and growth within the department and the university at large.

NFCPS OUTREACH: JENTA COMMUNITY TROOPS OUT TO GET MEDICAL CARE

By Eji mercy suleiman  The National Fellowship of Christian Pharmacy Students (NFCPS) the University of Jos Chapter held its annual medical outreach in conjunction with Jungle Ministry on Saturday, May 20, 2023, at the Jenta community in Jos North, Plateau State. According to Dorcas Fatokun, a fellowship executive and a member of the planning committee, the outreach was meant to extend a hand of love to the community by providing medical care and giving spiritual counsel. In her words “The Jenta community needs spiritual counsel as the rate of cultism and cultist activities is on the high side”.  She went further to commend how appreciative the people were for the love shown to them.
